Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns, also called caps, are natural-looking covers that are applied over damaged teeth to conceal imperfections such as breaks, fractures, or stains. Porcelain crowns add strength and durability while improving the appearance of damaged or misaligned teeth.

To apply a porcelain crown, Dr. Davis needs to prepare the damaged tooth so the crown can fit easily and comfortably over it. An impression of your teeth and gums is made and you are fitted with a temporary crown until the permanent crown is fabricated.

In some cases we are able to use our Cerec CAD-CAM computer system and fabricate a crown in an hour. Once your permanent porcelain crown is ready, Dr. Davis cements it into place. To ensure you receive the look you desire, Dr. Davis usually uses a temporary cement so you can approve the crown result before it is permanently secured into place. It is your choice. There are several reasons why a tooth may require a porcelain crown, including: decay, fracture, large fillings, discoloration, root canals, and bridges.
